Every part of KCU has a story to tell. From our name and logo to the goanna that represents our journey, each reflects the partnerships, people and shared values that have shaped who we are today.
The KCU story began when Kurtarra Pty Ltd, Cape Crushing and Earthmoving Pty Ltd and Underground Services Australia Pty Ltd came together with a shared vision: to combine their expertise in supporting the mining industry while creating opportunities for Indigenous people and communities across Western Australia.
Each business brought its own strengths and specialist capabilities, with a commitment to focus on what they did best.
As the businesses evolved, Cape acquired Underground Services Australia and later joined with Dunstan, resulting in the two-party partnership between Kurtarra and Cape Dunstans that continues today. The ‘U’ remains in the KCU name, recognising the important role Underground Services Australia played in the company’s beginnings.
Our commitment to Indigenous engagement
Indigenous engagement is central to KCU’s identity and the way we do business.
As a Supply Nation registered Indigenous-partnered business, KCU is committed to building genuine relationships with Traditional Owners, Indigenous businesses and the communities in which we operate.
Through employment, training and development, procurement and subcontracting opportunities, we aim to support Indigenous participation, strengthen local capability and contribute to positive, lasting outcomes.
For KCU, success is about more than the projects we deliver. It’s also about the relationships we build and the opportunities we create along the way.
